Orange Spiny Oyster Earrings - Falling Leaves

Notify me when this product is available:

A wonderful ode to fall, these spiny oyster earrings are inspired by the vibrant colors of Fall's changing colors. The leaves are made of a vibrant orange spiny oyster which is carefully polished and carved into a leaf silhouette by hand - a testament to the generations-honed level of craftsmanship. The design includes sterling silver with an oxidized effect to highlight the delicate flowers and intricate rope details, giving the earrings a charmingly vintage appeal. Simultaneously artisanal and modern with a hint of boho, the falling leaves earring design is a classic timeless design to treasure for generations. A wonderful gift for her which comes beautifully gift-boxed.

Spiny Oyster Shell Meaning:

Spiny oyster is found off the coast of the Pacific and has been used by civilizations including Native Americans, Aztecs, and Incas. In the Inca empire, it was valued over gold, silver, and emeralds. Spiny oyster was used in jewelry, alters, and as an oracle to summon spirits; it was thought to attract prosperity and fertility (of the soil!).

Craftsmanship

We work with some of the most reputable artisans in Peru that have crafted jewelry for generations using the highest quality materials available. These spiny oyster earrings are set in 950 Sterling Silver, which is the highest grade of wearable sterling silver available. Note: The pair of earrings photographed is the one you will receive. Our jewelry is NOT mass-produced.

Note from Claudia
These earrings are quite unique because they remind me of autumn. I love that these earrings incorporate an unexpected material, spiny oyster shells, found off the coast of Peru. Why? Because near Peru's warm Pacific waters, there is no change in seasons. It is neat to see how organic shells from the bottom of the sea can so perfectly evoke the colors of fall.
